Like every year, people have started their preparations for the much awaited Navaratri Festival. In 2015, Navartri is starting on 13th October. Being an important Hindu Festival Navaratri is celebrated throughout the world with great pomp and joy. On this occasion people worship Devi Durga in her nine different forms. As per the Hindu Mythology, there are three major incarnations of Durga Maa. These are Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. Each of these forms of Durga Maa further manifested into two different forms of Devi Maa making it nine forms of Devi Maa.

From Day one to Day Three in Navratri, devotees worship Devi Durga who symbolizes power and energy. On the first day, Devi Maa is worshipped as Shailputri and Kumari worship is done. On the second day, Devi Durga gets worshipped as Parvati, young woman. Devi Maa is worshipped as Devi Kali on the third day. From the fourth day to sixth day, Devi Maa is worshipped as Devi Lakshmi, who is the symbol of peace and prosperity. Though on the 5th day that is called Lalita Panchami, Devi Saraswati is worshipped too.

The seventh and eighth day of Navaratri, devotees worship Devi Saraswati who is Goddess of Knowledge and art. On 8th day, Yagna is performed where sacrifice is offered to the fire to satisfy Devi Maa. The ninth day or Mahanavami is the last day of Navratri celebration and on this occasion â€˜Kanya Poojaâ€™ is done. Nine girls who have not attained puberty are worshipped on this day.

During Navaratri devotees wear clothes of different colours on each day which has particular significance. The colours to be worn during 2015 Navaratri are listed below:

13th October - Red Colour

Day 1 of Navratri 2015 is on 13th October (Tuesday) which is a Pratipada. On this day, Ghatasthapana is done and Devi Maa is worshipped as Shailaputri dressed in Grey saree and devotees must wear Red colour dresses.

14th October - Blue Colour

Day 2 of Navratri 2015 is also a Pratipada. On this day, Devi Maa is worshipped as Brahmacharini and she is dressed in orange colour dress. This day is signified with Blue Colour so devotees must wear dresses of Blue colour on this day.

15th October -Yellow Colour

Day 3 of Navratri 2015 or Dwitiya is signified with Yellow Colour. On this day, Devi Maa is worshipped as Chandraghanta and devotees must wear Yellow colour dress on this day that is 15th October.

16th October - Green Colour

Day 4 (Tritiya) of Navratri will get signified with green colour. Devi Maa is worshipped as Kushmanda who is believed to be the inventor of the entire universe. Devotees must wear Green colour dresses on this day.

17th October - Grey Colour

Grey Colour signifies Day 5(Chaturthi) of Navratri 2015 which is falling on a Saturday. On this day, Devi Maa is worshipped as Skandmata who is believed to demolish demons. Devotees must put on Grey Colour dresses on this day.

18th October - Orange Colour

Day 6 (Panchami) of Navratri 2015 gets signified with Orange Colour. Devi Maa is worshipped as Devi Katyani on this day and devotees must put on Orange colour dresses.

19th October - White Colour

White Colour will signify Day 7 (Sasthi) of Navratri 2015. On Sasthi, Devi Maa is worshipped as Kaalratri incarnation that is believed to protect the entire world from all types of troubles. The devotees must wear White colour dress on this day.

20th October - Pink Colour

On the 8th day (Saptami), Devi Maa is worshipped in the form of Maa Gauri who is known for her forgiveness. The devotees must wear Pink colour dresses on this day.

21th October - Sky Blue Colour

Sky Blue Colour signifies Day 9 (Ashtami) of Navratri 2015. On this day, Devi Maa gets worshipped as Devi Siddhidatri who protects all her devotees against any supernatural power. Devotees must wear dresses of Sky Blue Colour.

22nd October - Purple Colour

This year Navmi and Dashmi will fall on October 22nd and the colour to be worn on this day is Purple.
